About

Bionic 360

After Jae Kim's parents were murdered in 1980, Jae was sent by his uncle to live in a Taoist monastery in the Wudang Mountains of Hubei, China. Since Jae was overcome by vengeance and anger, his uncle believed only a Taoist temple could offer the spiritual guidance he needed. So Jae spent his next years at the Yeon Kim school of Taoist Meditation in the Wudang Mountains. There, he learned the works of Taoist Monk Chen Tuan, and aspired to live his life by the philosphies of the Taoist faith: oneness, dynamic balance, cyclical growth and harmonious action. As he got older, though, he gradually changed his interests to Wudang martial arts.

Notes

  • It is unknown as to whether Jae attended the Wudang Shan Temple, but it is the most well-known monastery in the Wudang Mountains.

Trivia

  • Jae Kim's original biography on the Bionic Woman website said he attended the Wu Yik Fan school of Taoist Meditation, but his biography was changed in July 2007 to have instead attended the "Yeon Kim" school. Wu Yik Fan is known to have educated thousands in martial arts in Shanghai, China. He had students from various provinces in China as well as from Hong Kong, Singapore, South East Asia, Brazil, England and the United States.
  • Chen Tuan (871-989) was a legendary Taoist sage. According to certain Taoist schools who claim him as a founder, he lived a secluded life in the Nine Room Cave on Mount Wudang.
